‘Apex Cricket Council won’t be able to do anything in front of Indian Cricket Board’ – Former Pakistan skipper’s bold statement on India
Former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi thinks that the Apex Cricket Council won’t be able to do anything in front of the Indian Cricket Board if it comes to the issues regarding the 2023 Asia Cup venue. Indian Cricket Board refused to play the 2023 edition of Asia Cup in Pakistan due to political tensions between the neighbors which have risen on the happening of the tournament in Pakistan later this year.
The tournament is scheduled to take place just before the ODI World Cup, which is being hosted by India and Pakistan has stated that if India does not come to Pakistan for the Asia Cup then they will also not come to India for the 50-over World Cup.
“I have no idea, will India visit Pakistan for the Asia Cup? Will we boycott the ODI World Cup in India? But we need to take a stand at some point or other. In this case, Apex Cricket Council’s role becomes crucial, they should come forward, but let me say it even Apex Cricket Council won’t be able to do anything in front of the Indian Cricket Board,” Afridi told Samaa TV.
They have to look at plenty of things: Shahid Afridi
Former Pakistan all-rounder said that the Indian Cricket Board is so confident because they have made themselves very strong.
“If anyone is unable to stand on his own feet and then the decision to make such strong calls is not easy. They have to look at plenty of things. India agar aankhe dekha raha hain (If India is flexing its muscles) or taking such a strong stance, then they have made themselves that strong. So they are able to talk like this, otherwise they wouldn’t have the courage. At the end it’s about making yourself strong and then take decisions ,” the former leg-spinner asserted.
The Indian Cricket Board and the Pakistan Cricket Board are arguing against each other from a quite a few time. Where one side Indian Cricket Board secretary Jay Shah is saying that they will not go to Pakistan to play the Asia Cup 2023 whereas on the other hand, the former PCB chairman Ramiz Raja has said that if India will not come to Pakistan for the Asia Cup then will also not go to India for the ODI World Cup to India later this year. shahi
