Ashutosh Sharma smashes fastest T20 half-century by an Indian player

The Indian domestic season is underway with the teams playing in the domestic T20 tournament which began on Monday. Ashutosh Sharma is playing for Railways and chose Tuesday to be the day for his record-breaking knock.

The game between Railways and Arunachal Pradesh was played in Ranchi. It was a one-sided affair as Railways won the game by 127 runs. Ashutosh Sharma scored the fastest T20 half-century by an Indian.

Sharma a right-handed batter born in Madhya Pradesh got to the mark in just 11 balls. This broke Yuvraj Singh’s record of 12 balls by an Indian which stood for 16 years. Ashutosh Sharma ended up scoring 53 runs from just 12 balls with a four and 8 sixes.

Railways thump Arunachal Pradesh on a busy day of cricket –

The Railways team batted first and scored 246/5 from their 20 overs. Upendra Yadav was the star with the bat scoring 103 not out from 51 balls with 6 fours and 9 huge hits past the fence. Susheel Kumar then led the charge with the ball taking 4/17 from his 3 overs to help Railways win the game by 127 runs.

Speaking about Ashutosh Sharma the youngster took the full toll of some tired opposition bowlers. He got to his fifty in a mere 11 balls and went down into the history books as the fastest Indian to hit a T20 fifty. For the record, Dipendra Singh holds the record for the fastest 50 in T20I history which came off 9 balls against Mongolia recently.

In the other games, Goa beat Manipur by six wickets, while Assam beat Bihar by 5 wickets. Riyan Parag continued his good form with the bat and ball during the game on Tuesday. Tilak Varma’s 59 not out helped Hyderabad beat Jammu and Kashmir by 8 wickets. Ishan Porel and Akash Deep picked 3 wickets each to help Bengal beat Rajasthan by 29 runs.

Suyash Sharma picked 5/13 while Ishant Sharma and Harshit Rana picked 2 wickets each as Delhi bowled out MP for 115. Delhi won the game by 7 wickets with four balls to spare. Mumbai continued their good form as they beat Meghalaya by 9 wickets in a one-sided affair.

Punjab scored 276/5 and bowled out Andhra for 170 to win the game by 105 runs. Abhishek Sharma with 112 and Anmolpreet Singh with 87 were the top scorers for Punjab during a record-breaking day.
