‘Most ironic way to get injured’ – Fans react as Glenn Maxwell gets ruled out of ODI World Cup 2023 clash vs England

Published on

The Australia cricket team is all set to lock horns against England on November 4 at the iconic Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in Ahmedabad for their seventh game of the ODI World Cup 2023. Notably, Pat Cummins and Co. got a narrow 5-run win against New Zealand in their recent clash of the ongoing event, and they will be looking to beat England in their next clash to qualify for the semi-final spot for the marquee event.

However, according to reports, Australia’s great all-rounder, Glenn Maxwell, is not available for their next clash against the English set-up. The star cricketer once again sustained injuries, which ruled him out of the ongoing marquee event for six to eight days. In addition, Australian white-ball football coach Andrew McDonald also confirmed this in the news. Glenn Maxwell suffered the injury a second time, as he got injured during the South Africa tour as well, which was ahead of the India series.

“In transporting back from the clubhouse to the team bus, where Glenn Maxwell comes off the back of a cart, and has suffered a small concussion. So, he will go into concussion protocols for the next period, and will unfortunately miss the England game,” said Australia head coach Andrew McDonald.

There’ll be no replacement as such for Glenn Maxwell: Andrew McDonald

Meanwhile, the Australian coach, Andrew McDonald, said that the squad does not require his replacement as he didn’t get the major scare of being ruled out. The former all-rounders believe that either Cameron Green or Marcus Stoinis will get the opportunity to play their next clash against Jos Buttler and Co., but they have yet to make the final decision.

“There’ll be no replacement as such. So he’ll go into like, it’s six to eight days concussion protocol. So as I said, that takes into account the England game who will be unavailable for that game. And then clearly within the squad, we’ve got some players who become available in Marcus Stoinis and Cameron Green is available as well. So, we haven’t made that decision as yet,” he added further.
