The Men in Green had a great start ahead of the Asia Cup as the Babar Azam side defeated Afghanistan by a big margin of 142 runs and took a great lead of 1-0 in the three-match ODI series. Earlier, Pakistan’s skipper won the toss and invited Shahidi’s side to field first.

Notably, Pakistan had a terrible start as their opener, Fakhar Zaman, departed for just 2 runs. Following him, no other batters except Iman-ul-Haq contributed and were bundled out for just 201 runs. Later, while chasing, the Afghanistan team could only rack up 59 runs before getting all out in just 19.2 overs. Notably, great bowler Haris Rauf scalped five wickets and guided his team towards a great win.

Meanwhile, after the great and emphatic win, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam expressed his happiness following the match. Notably, the star opening batter says that despite losing their openers in quick succession, the Men in Green were able to post a decent total on the board. In addition, the stylish right-handed batter heaped praise on star bowler Haris Rauf and called his spell game-changing for them. Moreover, the 28-year-old cricketer says that he always tries to do his best, irrespective of win or loss. Furthermore, the Lahore-born batter always tries to stay positive during the game.

“We lost wickets upfront and then Imam and Iftikhar played a good hand in getting us to a decent total. We just tried to hit the hard length with the ball and build more dot balls in the powerplay. We all know what Shaheen can do with the new ball. The way Haris Rauf bowled, that spell was game-changing. I always try my level best (as a batter and captain), sometimes you win and sometimes you lose, it happens in the game of cricket. We want to stay positive,” Babar Azam said during the post-match presentation.
