‘Baat toh sahi hai, teri wajah se he haar gaye’ – Fans react to Hardik Pandya blaming himself for the loss against Delhi Capitals

Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya accepted responsibility for the defeat during a nail-biting five-run loss to Delhi Capitals during an Indian Premier League 2023 match up, claiming that he was unable to maintain his rhythm and ultimately was unable to complete the game.

Despite a valiant half century from Aman Hakim Khan off just 44 balls, Gujarat Titans were able to hold Delhi Capitals to 130/8 in 20 overs, thanks to veteran pacer Shami’s spectacular four-fer. After Aman, Axar Patel and Ripal Patel were the other two key performers with the bat for Titans, each scoring 27 off 30 and 23 off 13 balls, respectively. Mohit Sharma also claimed two wickets for Titans, while Rashid Khan only managed to get one.

Hardik Pandya spoke about how his side could have won the game with that score on the board. He said, “We would have taken 129 on any given day. Just lost a couple of wickets and in the end, Rahul got us back in the game. I tried my best in the end but it was not to be,” Pandya said after the match.”

Hardik then spoke about his thought process during the match as he said, “We were hoping to get a couple of big overs in the middle but we couldn’t get the rhythm. It was new for Abhinav as well and it boils down to how I could not finish the game. Full marks to their bowlers and full ownership. I couldn’t finish it.”

The Gujarat Titans skipper spoke about the nature of the pitch and took the blame of the loss upon himself. He said, “Wicket was good enough, it was wicket pressure. They bowled really well, 10 overs for 80 we would have taken. In the end, Rahul got us in the game, otherwise, they were quite ahead. We lost this game because I couldn’t get my rhythm.”
