Babar Azam equals unwanted record of 1992 World Cup winner Imran Khan, despite win by 142 runs against Afghanistan in 1st ODI

The Men in Green had a fantastic start in the ODI series against Afghanistan ahead of the upcoming Asia Cup. Notably, the Pakistan team beat Afghanistan by 142 runs in the first ODI on August 22 and took an audacious 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series. Notably, the Pakistan team had racked up 201 runs before getting all out after opting to bat first. In addition, Pakistan skipper Babar Azam has been dismissed for a duck by great bowler Mujeeb-Ur-Rahman.

Later, while chasing, the Afghanistan team could only score 59 runs in 19.2 overs before getting all out by the great spells of Pakistan bowler Haris Rauf. Notably, despite ending up on the winning side, the 28-year-old skipper had an awful record to his name. In addition, the stylish right-handed batter has equalled the record of 1992 World Cup captain Imran Khan by getting out on ducks four times in 50-over formats.

Babar Azam’s side looks in a very dominant position ahead of the Asia Cup

Meanwhile, the Men in Green looked in solid form as they easily dismantled Afghanistan’s batting line-up and claimed a 142-run victory during the first ODI. The Babar Azam-led side will be locking horns on August 24 and 26 for the second and third ODIs against Afghanistan. In addition, Pakistan will be looking to whitewash the series, which will help them enter the Asia Cup with great confidence.

Notably, the Babar Azam side looks in a very dominant position ahead of the Asia Cup. Moreover, they look like favourites to win the upcoming Asia Cup owing to the advantage of their home soil along with their strong performances. In addition, the Men in Green have been performing well in recent times, reaching the finals of the Asia Cup 2022 and the T20I World Cup 2022, and this time they will look to grab the title of the Asia Cup, which is all set to commence on August 30.

Meanwhile, the Men in Green will be playing their opening match against Nepal on their home soil before taking on archrivals India on September 2 in Kandy, Sri Lanka, during the upcoming Asia Cup.
