Bangladesh beat New Zealand to record historic nine-wicket win in third ODI

The New Zealand cricket team suffered a humiliating and embarrassing loss against Bangladesh in the third ODI on December 22. However, despite the loss, the Black Caps won the series by 2-1 in the three matches of the ODI series. Speaking about the game here, it was Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto who won the toss and invited New Zealand to bat first.

Notably, after being put to bat first, their side failed to show a batting performance and were all out for just 98 runs. However, during the chase, skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto struck out an unbeaten half-century to make sure his side avoided the whitewash and guided his side to chase down the total in just 15 overs.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto expressed his happiness after such a great win. The 25-year-old cricketer reveals that he believes they can win the series, but the Black Caps easily outclassed them in the first two games. However, the top-order batter says that the win in the third ODI gives them great confidence and will help them in T20I cricket as well.

“Really proud of the way the boys played this match. Before we started this series, we believed we can win this series. Last couple of matches, we played well but we couldn’t finish, but the boys played some good cricket and we got the right result today. I am really proud of the way they bowled today. This match will give us a lot of confidence. But T20 is a different format, we have to plan for that. Hopefully, boys can play good cricket in the T20s as well,”  Najmul Hossain Shanto said at the post-match presentation.
