‘Bas kar bhai, kitna maarega’ – Fans react as Gautam Gambhir scores third consecutive fifty in Legends League Cricket

In the fourth match of the Legends League Cricket (LLC), India Maharajas locked horns with table-toppers Asia Lions on Tuesday, March 16  in West End Park International Cricket Stadium, Doha. With half-centuries from Maharajas skipper Gautam Gambhir and Robin Uthappa, they took their side to a thumping victory by 10 wickets.

Earlier in the match, Maharajas won the toss and elected to bowl first. The Lions scored 157 runs for the loss of five wickets. The top scorer of the side was their wicketkeeper-batter Upul Tharanga who scored 69 runs off 48 balls with seven fours and two sixes.

Former Sri Lankan opener Tillakaratne Dilshan and Pakistan allrounder Abdul Razzaq also scored crucial runs for their side. Dilshan scored 32 runs off 27 balls with four fours and a six. Razzaq, on the other hand, played an unbeaten knock of 27 runs from 17 balls with two fours and two sixes.

Robin Uthappa and Gautam Gambhir took Indian Maharajas to victory

For the Maharajas side, the pick of the bowlers was all-rounder Suresh Raina as he snapped two wickets in his spell of two overs and conceded 16 runs in his spell. One wicket each was grabbed by Pravin Tambe, Harbhajan Singh and Stuart Binny.

While chasing a target of 158 runs, the Maharaja openers Gambhir and Uthappa were the star performers with the bat. They chased down the target in the 13th over with 10 wickets in hand. The former Chennai franchise cricketer played an unbeaten knock of 88 runs from 39 balls with 11 fours and five sixes. Gambhir scored 61 runs off 36 balls which included 12 fours.

Gambhir has now scored three consecutive half-centuries in the three games that he has played so far in this tournament. He scored 54 runs off 39 balls with seven fours at a strike rate of over 138 in the first match. Against World Giants, he scored 68 runs from 42 balls with nine fours and a six.
