Ben Shelton, the 20-year-old tennis player from the United States of America is in the semifinals of the US Open 2023, The American tennis player Shelton became the youngest US Open semifinalist in 30 years as he defeated 10th-seeded Frances Tiafoe in a third-set tie-break. However, the 35-seeded will be up against a much tougher opponent, Novak Djokovic, who has reached his 47th major semi-final and is looking to win his fourth title and reach his 10th US Open final. 

The game was buzzed in the US court as it was an all-American competition in the quarterfinals of the Grand Slam, Tiafoe and Shelton, the contest the first in 15 years to feature two Black American men battling on the world’s largest tennis venue. Now, talking about 20-year-old tennis player opponent, ace Serbian tennis star Djokovic has reached the semifinals of the US Open 2023 after beating American Taylor Fritz in straight sets, 6-1, 6-4, 6-4. 

Ben Shelton will be looking to stop Novak Djokovic from winning his 10th US Open title- 

With this win, he broke the record of old rival Roger Federer’s 46 semifinals. Djokovic is eyeing his 24th single Grand Slam title, the second-seeded player won his last Grand Slam title after beating Casper Ruud in the French Open final 2023. Speaking of the Djokovic game, Fritz stormed into the quarterfinals as he became the only player in the US Open to reach the last eight fixtures without dropping a set. He also matched up against two of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) top 10 players in the previous fixtures.

But the Serbian has been a formidable rival for the American no. 1, as he has lost his last seven encounters with the 23-time Grand Slam champion. Now, after the last game win, the lost tally has now reached eight. In another fiery contest, in the US Open 2023, World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz reached the quarterfinals on the back of a comfortable win in the men’s singles fourth round against Italian Matteo Arnaldi.
