In the final of the Indian Premier League 2023, Chennai Super Kings beat Gujarat Titans by 5 wickets at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Chasing 171 runs in 15 overs, all the CSK batters went all guns blazing against the GT bowlers. However, Mohit Sharma and Noor Ahmed pulled back GT in the game, though their team failed to end on a high note.

Earlier, after winning the toss, CSK skipper MS Dhoni opted to bowl first. His decision didn’t go well with the team as GT opener Shubman Gill and Wriddhiman Saha added 67 runs for the first wicket. Gill, in his innings, scored 39 runs off 20 balls with the help of seven boundaries. He was dismissed by Ravindra Jadeja after getting two lifelines from Deepak Chahar.

After his departure, Sai Sudarshan joined Saha in the middle and added 68 runs for the second wicket. Saha in his innings scored 54 runs off 39 balls with the help of five boundaries and a six. After that, GT skipper Hardik Pandya and Sai Sudarshan scored 83 runs for the third wicket. Sudarshan, in his innings, scored 96 runs off 47 balls with the help of eight boundaries and six maximums.

In the end, a cameo from Hardik Gujarat Titans posted a massive total of 214/4 in 20 overs. Hardik in his innings scored 21 runs off 12 balls with the help of two sixes. For CSK Matheesha Pathirana clinched two wickets, while Ravindra Jadeja and Deepak Chahar got a wicket each.

Ravindra Jadeja won it for Chennai Super Kings

Chasing 200+ in a final game, CSK didn’t get a smooth start as rain interrupted their innings as soon as it started. However, after an hour of delay, CSK was asked to chase 171 runs in 15 overs. However, CSK opener Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway started well as they added 74 runs for the first wicket. Gaikwad scored 26 runs off 16 balls with the help of three boundaries and a six.

After his departure, CSK lost another opener Devon Conway in the same over. Noor Ahmed pulled Gujarat Titans back into the game. However, after that, Ambati Rayudu and Shivam Dube added 32 runs for the fourth wicket. Dube scored 32 runs off 21 balls, while Rayudu scored 19 runs off 8 balls.

In the end, Ravindra Jadeja hammered a boundary and a six to clinch the game on the last ball. Jadeja in his innings scored 15 runs off 6 balls with the help of a boundary and a six. This is CSK’s fifth IPL title and with this, they equaled the record of Mumbai Indians.
