ODI World Cup 2023

‘Bhai Ab bas phir injured mat hona’ – Fans react as KL Rahul post video of wicket keeping and batting

With the debates and all the speculations surrounding the return of KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer, the star Indian batter has now taken to his Instagram account and posted a video of himself training hard in the nets. The wicketkeeper batter was seen batting as well as wicketkeeping ahead of his potential speculation of making a comeback.

Rahul hurt himself during the 2023 Indian Premier League (IPL), missing the World Test Championship (WTC) final due to surgery and recuperation. Since Rahul has been India’s most reliable wicketkeeper in One-Day Internationals, many were worried that the Men in Blue would struggle to handle his absence during the 50-over World Cup.

Since 2020, the wicketkeeper batter has undoubtedly been India’s most reliable middle-order batter and has adapted to his new position admirably. The star India batter showed his ability to both bat in the middle order and take wickets, which allowed the Men in Blue to employ players like Hardik Pandya as a sixth bowling option and a sixth batsman.

With his strong performance in the West Indies, Ishan Kishan may be India’s backup choice for the ODI World Cup. The Men in Blue may have to try Kishan in the middle order, which hasn’t seen much action up to this point if Rahul is hurt or unable to hold wickets. In fact, the kind of performance which the Southpaw has shown in the recently concluded ODI series against the West Indies has certainly made a strong statement about his inclusion in the squad for ODI World Cup 2023.

Another contender who can replace Rahul is Sanju Samson, who demonstrated this ability in Trinidad with a superb half-century. Rahul and Shreyas Iyer returning as soon as possible would be excellent for India, especially for the Asia Cup next month. Despite Samson not getting the chances that the fans would have expected from him, the wicketkeeper batter has been decent with the bat in the limited opportunities that he has received.

Let us look at how Twitter has reacted to this video from KL Rahul;
