Mumbai Indians (MI) skipper Rohit Sharma shared a post on his social media after the compilation of the 16th edition of the Indian Premier League. In his post, Rohit first congratulated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for lifting the trophy. After that, he also acknowledged defending champions and the runners-up Gujarat Titans (GT) for their consistent performance throughout the tournament.
Rohit and his team MI also had a great outing in IPL 2023, where they made it into the top four after winning eight out of 14 league matches. After that, MI registered a thrashing victory against Lucknow Super Giants by 81 runs in Eliminator at the M.A Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. However, the five-time champions failed to make it into their seventh IPL final after GT defeated them by 62 runs in Qualifier 2 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
“What an @IPL it has been this year. So many wonderful talents have come through. Well done to @ChennaiIPL for winning the title and also very well done to @gujarat_titans for playing consistently well through the tournament,” Rohit wrote on his Twitter.
After IPL, Rohit will now be seen back in the cricketing action in the longest format of the game as he will be leading the Indian team in the upcoming Test Championship final against Australia that is scheduled to be played at the Oval in England from June 7 to June 11. The runners of the previous edition, India will be looking to clinch the Test mace in their second attempt by defeating the Aussies.
Meanwhile, Australia will be looking to settle scores with India after losing four consecutive Test series against them in 2017, 2018-19, 2020-21 and 2023. After the Test Championship final. Australia will take on the hosts England for the upcoming Ashes series starting on June 16.
