‘Bhai mat aa iss baar’ – Fans react as NZ head coach says Kane Williamson will get every chance to make it to 2023 World Cup

All the cricketing teams are gearing up to win the upcoming ODI World Cup, which is all set to take place in the host country, India, from October 5. Notably, the New Zealand team lost the final of the 2019 World Cup against England. In addition, this time, the Black Caps will be looking to get one step closer to the past tournament. Moreover, New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson is currently on rehab and looking to get in the squad. In addition, the top-order batter sustained grave injuries during the IPL 2023 while playing for the Gujarat Titans. Meanwhile, the Kiwis head coach, Gary Stead, has opened up about his injuries.

Notably, the former New Zealand cricketer says that they have around two weeks before announcing their World Cup squad. In addition, the former opening batter affirms that they will give Williamson full chance to use his time to recover. Moreover, the former top-order batsman feels great to see New Zealand’s star cricketer practicing in the nets. Furthermore, the right-handed batter admitted that there is still a lot of work he needs to do for making his spot in the upcoming ODI World Cup.

Of course, we want Kane Williamson at the World Cup: Gary Stead

“We’ve got about two weeks from now until we name that side. We’re going to give him every chance to use that full amount of time. He’s in full rehab mode, he’s back batting in the nets again, which is great to see. He’s progressing really well, but there’s a lot of work for him still to do to make sure he gets where we need him to be,” head coach Gary Stead said on New Zealand media.

In addition, the 51-year-old coach says that they are trying hard to get Williamson back on the team for the upcoming major tournament. “Of course, we want him at the World Cup, but there is that bigger picture that we want Kane Williamson fit for the rest of his career. There will be honest conversations that Kane and I will have around exactly where he is at,” he added further.
