Five Star Hotels unavailable in Ahmedabad for India – Pakistan encounter

Meanwhile, due to unprecedented demand, there has been a non-availability of rooms in five-star Hotels in Ahmedabad for the mega World Cup clash between India and Pakistan at the Narendra Modi Stadium on October 15th. That includes ITC Narmada, the Courtyard by Marriott, the Hyatt, and the Taj Skyline Ahmedabad. Hotels and Restaurants Association (HRA) – Gujarat spokesperson Abhijeet Deshmukh commented on the situation and said that the rooms will be full despite higher rates.

“If the hoteliers think that the demand is very high for a particular period, they will try to make some revenue because they are assured that rooms will be full despite higher rates. Once the demand drops, the room rentals will also come down,” Deshmukh was quoted as saying as LiveMint.

“Since their first choice would be luxury hotels and they plan in advance, they might have started booking rooms in city hotels, which might have resulted in no occupancy in some of the hotels,” he further added.

Deshmukh also noted that the surge in demand for luxury Hotels is because that the NRIs and upper-middle-class people living in other cities or states. He added that the budget Hotels in Ahmedabad are yet to witness a similar surge as middle-class cricket fans make their decision to come at the last moment.
