Bruno Fernandes addresses Manchester United’s chances of making it to Champions League 2024/25

Bruno Fernandes has given his honest opinion on Manchester United’s chances of qualifying for the upcoming season of the Champions League. The skipper of United saw his team lose on Sunday in Etihad Stadium despite having the early lead in the game. Manchester became blue as United suffered humiliation at the hands of the City. The loss did not go well with the fans of United.

While Marcus Rashford scored the first goal of the match for United in just the 9th minute, the visiting side could not hold on to the early lead. Phil Foden was brilliant in the game as he scored back-to-back goals to hand his side the lead in the match. City’s star Erling Haaland dropped the final nail in the coffin as he scored a goal in the 1st minute of the extra time, which saw City Beat United 3-1.

After the match, United’s skipper was in the press conference. He was asked about the chances of United in the rest of the tournament. Bruno claimed that the focus needs to shift towards the upcoming games. He felt that the result of them being in the situation they currently are, in has to do with a lot of factors. Bruno claimed that they do wish to take part in the upcoming Champions League.

However, Fernandes was honest in his assessment and added that the process of making it to the next season will be difficult. For United to qualify for the next season, they will have to end the league in the 4th position. Bruno added that not everything is in their hands. The star player from Portugal felt grateful for the fans who he regarded would be behind them irrespective of the results.

“We know it’s going to be hard but we have to do everything that is in our hands that we can do going into the next game at home. We know that our fans will be there over and over again. They’ve been behind us, they push us. Next game we have to go there and win that game,” said Bruno Fernandes.
