In the fifth game of the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL 2024), Multan Sultans and Islamabad United locked horns. Meanwhile, in this game, the 2021, Sultans won the toss and elected to bowl first.

Two-time Test player Mohammad Ali removed former New Zealand international Colin Munro while former England pacer David Willey removed Alex Hales. At 14/2, the likes of Agha Salman and Jordan Cox put together 68 runs for the third wicket. It seemed that the team had recovered from the early wickets. However, skipper Shadab Khan pushing himself down the order and regular wickets didn’t help their cause.

While Salman scored another fifty of the season, Cox missed out by seven runs. For the Punjab-based team, Multan, Ali, and Abbas Afridi ended with three wickets each. On the other hand, Usama Mir took two while Willey had one wicket to his name.

In reply, the Blue Brigade winners didn’t start well as Naseem Shah removed Dawid Malan. At 6/1, skipper Mohammad Rizwan and South Africa international Reeza Hendricks put together 71 runs for the second wicket. Former Pakistan international Imad Wasim removed his former Karachi Kings teammate, Rizwan, after he got 43 off 33 balls.

On the other hand, Hendricks scored 58 off 46 balls including six fours and a six. When the team looked like scoring an easy win, his wicket meant that the team had to work hard for the win, which they should have gotten a few overs ago. They ended up winning with only one ball left in the game.
