Call of Duty Season 1 Reloaded includes nerfs to a cosmetic

Nerfs to a weapon or ability are quite common in multiple-player games. Season 1 Reloaded for Call of Duty also brought in multiple changes, including nerfs to abilities and weapons.

However, nerfing a cosmetic is not something people hear every day. This is exactly what happened with the Gaia skin, popularly known as “evil Groot” skin. The companions were so prominent that the developers had to remove the skin from the store.

Since its introduction, people have complained about how well the evil Groot blends with the Call of Duty’s dusty map. For people with poor vision, this operator cosmetic is a complete Ghillie suit. Even regular people also get fooled due to how fast-paced regular Call of Duty fights are.

Changes to the Gaia skin

With the new update, the skin is completely opaque compared to its previous model where it was semi-transparent and looked like a bush in the field. Now, players can easily tell the cosmetic apart.

Along with making the skin opaque, the developers also seem to have touched on its colouring to make it easier to spot. The effectiveness of these changes is yet to be with player feedback. However, the game is already under criticism for new bugs.

More changes but players are still frustrated

The season 1 update brought a lot of new things. These included new weapons, events, new warlords in zombies, new maps and game modes. The Ricochet anti-cheat also got an update that will now detect external hardware and software enabling aim assist on mouse and keyboards.

If someone is caught, the game will automatically close. Repeated offences may also lead to a permanent ban on the user’s account. However, along with new stuff came new bugs and glitches.

The development team released several patches addressing the fixes and is still working on further fixing/optimizing the game.
