‘Can we leave KL Rahul alone?’ – Harabajan Singh defends Indian opener after twitter feud breaks out between Venkatesh Prasad and Aakash Chopra
The four-match Test series for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy is currently taking place in India. The hosts, who won the first two Tests of the series, have already secured the trophy and currently occupy the second spot in the Test Championship standings. By winning the third Test in Indore, they would be hoping to lock up a spot in the final.
KL Rahul may currently be going through his worst stretch in his international career. Due to injuries, he has already missed a lot of games. Except for ODIs, he has never had a long drought in any of the other formats before being benched from the Test team due to poor performance.
He lost his vice-captaincy in limited overs after a string of poor T20I outings. After posting scores of 8, 12, 10, 22, 23, 10, 2, 20, and 1 in his final ten Test innings, the selectors chose to remove him from his role as Rohit Sharma’s backup in red-ball cricket. He might not even don the Indian team uniform for the forthcoming two Test matches in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia.
What did former cricket players say about Rahul’s form?
Former Indian team spinner Harbhajan Singh came in support of the Indian team opener. He said on Twitter, “Can we leave @klrahul alone guys? He hasn’t done any crime. He is still a top player. He will come back strong. We all go through such patches in international cricket. He is not the first one and last one. So please respect the fact that he is our own player and have faith.”
This tweet comes after a twitter battle broke out between former Indian team cricketers Venkatesh Prasad and Aakash Chopra. Venkatesh Prasad wanted India to drop KL Rahul and made some harsh comments regarding him. Aakash came out in KL’s defence and told Prasad that KL is from their nation only and he needs to be supported during this time. The feud broke out even more after a few tweets and it seems to be a cold war as of this moment.
