As India were 33 for 3 Rohit Sharma changed the momentum of the game by scoring a century on Day 1 against England in the third Test match in Rajkot. This knock marks his 11th Test hundred and 8th as the opener for the Indian Test team.

Rohit Sharma took the responsibility of scoring big runs as he did not get any support from the batters on the other hand. After the tea break, Rohit Sharma smashed his hundreds from just 157 balls. After the lunch break, Rohit Sharma took pace as he hit 11 fours and two sixes.

As India were 3 wickets down in the first session Ravindra Jadeja stood by his side and the duo made a partnership of more than 150 runs for the fourth wicket. In the first session, India lost star opener Yashasvi Jaiswal for 10 runs, Shubman Gill for a duck and Rajat Patidar for 5 runs as they gave it away in the first hour of the Day 1 play.

This was Rohit Sharma’s 3 Test century as a captain and he has equalled Kapil Dev’s record of Indian captains with the most centuries in Test cricket. Virat Kohli stands at the top of the list as he has scored 20 Test hundreds as Indian captain.

Rohit Sharma got the upper hand in the first session as he troubled James Anderson and Tom Hartley. As other Indian batter threw their wickets Rohit Sharma stood tall to score a century. Earlier Rohit Sharma broke MS Dhoni’s record for most sixes in Test cricket. Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag holds the record for most sixes in Test cricket as he has hit 91.

Overall, in cricket, Rohit Sharma has hit 590 sixes. He leads the T20I chart of most sixes with 190 sixes. In ODI cricket he is in third position with 323 sixes.
