England’s uniquely designed tournament The Hundred is all set to kick off again for its third edition which is scheduled to kick off on August 1. On Thursday, March 23, The Hundred draft took place and there were many big names that went unsold in the event. Some of the players were Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Kieron Pollard, and Andre Russell.

A total of 30 players were sold in the eight teams for the 2023 edition of the 100-ball tournament. Welsh Fire’s newly-appointed coach Michael Hussey brought in Tom Abell and the side bought some big names as well in order to strengthen their squad.

Two pillars of Pakistan Cricket, Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan also went unsold in the draft. Pakistan’s pace duo, on the other hand, Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf were bought by the Welsh Fire for the upcoming edition of the tournament.

Babar Azam was the second-highest run-scorer in PSL 2023

The Pakistan skipper was seen leading Peshawar Zalmi in the recently-concluded edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) where they were knocked out in the Eliminator 2 by the Lahore Qalandars, who went on to clinch their second successive title. However, Babar led his team by example as he was the second-highest run scorer in the tournament just behind Multan Sultan’s skipper Rizwan.

Babar managed to score 522 runs in 11 games during season eight, with a strike rate of 145.40 and an average of 52.20, including his maiden PSL century. Rizwan, on the other hand, had a successful season overall and was the top run-getter with 550 runs in 12 games at an average of 55.00 and a strike rate of 142.86.

Unfortunately for Babar as he was unable to lead his team past Qalandars in the Eliminator game as they fell short by 1 run. Pakistan’s bowling spearhead Shaheen led Qalandars to win the PSL championship for the second time in a row by winning Player of the Match in the final.

Here’s how fans reacted on Babar Azam, Mohammad Rizwan, Kieron Pollard, and Andre Russell being unsold:
