Chelsea are set to reunite with former manager Frank Lampard until the end of the season

Frank Lampard, a former Chelsea manager, who oversaw the team for 18 months prior to being fired in January 2021, was present at Stamford Bridge to witness their goalless stalemate with Liverpool. Luis Enrique, a former manager of Barcelona and Spain, is in London to speak with Chelsea about a managerial opening.

Shortly after Graham Potter was fired, the 44-year-old attended Stamford Bridge on Tuesday night to witness Chelsea draw 0-0 with Liverpool. In January 2021, Chelsea’s all-time leading scorer Lampard was fired from his position as manager at Stamford Bridge. He started over at Everton, but barely a year later, in January, he was fired.

Who all are running for the vacant role of Chelsea manager this season?

After a conversation with former Barcelona and Spain manager Luis Enrique in London to discuss their managing vacancy, Chelsea is considering using Lampard as a caretaker. There are reports that either one of Luis Enrqiue or Julian Nagelsmann would set to take over the side once the season is complete but there is no confirmation regarding this rumour.

The 52-year-old, who lost his position as Spain’s manager after the recently concluded World Cup in Qatar, has achieved the treble at Barcelona in 2014–15, taking home La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Champions League. He is currently jobless and is looking for a new experience and he is believed to have had a great meeting with the management yesterday

Also being discussed internally at Chelsea are Julian Nagelsmann, Mauricio Pochettino, Ruben Amorim, Oliver Glasner, and Luciano Spalletti. Roberto De Zerbi is not thought to be on the roster, though.

Julian Nagelsmann recently lost his job at Bayern Munich and now wants to lead a team in the Premier League. Despite Chelsea’s keen interest in him, he will wait before making a choice about his future. The German prefers to manage a full preseason when starting a new position and desires a brief period to reset from what he has just endured at the top German club.
