‘Koi tension nahi hai, 4-1 karenge…..’ – Former India selectors backs hosts to win Test series vs England

Team India is all set to lock horns against England for the second Test match on February 2. Notably, Rohit Sharma and Co. lost the first Test match against England on January 29 in Hyderabad. However, former India selector Chetan Sharma backs Team India to win the series 4-1 after losing the first Test game.

The former India cricketer Chetan Sharma feels Team India can win the series by 4-1, and they have welcomed visiting sides after giving them a win in the first Test game. In addition, the 58-year-old cricketer accepted that India should have won the opening Test, but he feels the Men in Blue have a lot of potential to win the series by 4-1.

“Koi tension nahi hai, 4-1 karenge (No tension, we’ll make it 4-1). Athithiyo ka Swagat kiya hai hamne, koi problem nahi (We’ve welcomed our guests, there’s no problem). Ek mistake ho jata hay (Sometimes you make a mistake). I won’t call it a mistake, they played well. Kahin na kahin ham pehla match hare hain (Somewhere we lost the opening match), toh kehte hain ki jo jeeta woh Sikander (there’s a phrase that the one who wins becomes a champion) but it’s not the case here. India has a lot of potential,” Chetan Sharma said on India Today.

Team India had also lost the opening Test in Chennai three years ago: Chetan Sharma

Chetan Sharma also cites the example of England versus India in 2020/2021, where Team India lost the opening game despite winning the series 3-1. Moreover, the great all-rounder affirms that history will repeat itself as Team India seems to have a lot of aggression this time.

“We had also lost the opening Test in Chennai three years ago and then we thrashed them [England] 3-1. Similarly, history will repeat itself and in the next game, the Indian team will look completely different. There’ll be aggression and according to me, we are winning the series 4-1,” he added further.
