Cheteshwar Pujara’s response to Ravichandran Ashwin’s ‘Mai kya Karun, job chod dun’ remark is absolute gold
Ravichandran Ashwin, the star off-spinner for India, responded hilariously on social media to Cheteshwar Pujara’s bowling during the fourth Test match between Australia and India in Ahmedabad. Significantly, India’s captain Rohit Sharma made the unusual move of bringing Cheteshwar Pujara into the bowling attack. Day 5 of the fourth Test match in Ahmedabad was approaching its last overs, and it was evident that a draw was certain.
When Pujara was bowling in the Ahmedabad Test, Ashwin tweeted a picture of it and wrote:
“Main kya karoon, job chod doon?” It alludes to a popular meme that appeared in a stand-up performance by comedian Abhishek Upamanyu.
Pujara reacted, immediately to Ashwin’s post, congratulating him for batting before him in Nagpur, a pitch that some former Australian players and their media said had been altered by India to aid spinners. Pujara replied on social media by saying “Nahi. This was just a quick note to thank you for going 1 down in Nagpur”

Before Pujara was removed for 7, nightwatchman Ashwin came out to bat and scored 23 off 62 balls. Ashwin continued by replying to Pujara via another tweet. “Your intent is appreciated, but I’m not sure how this is retaliation.”
Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja were awarded the player of the series award for their consistent performance in all the four Tests. He spoke about this in his post match presentation. He said, “It’s been a great journey together. We wouldn’t be the same without each other. He gives me a lot of freedom to be creative on the field with the ball. Credit to him. I thought he bowled beautifully in the Delhi Test. That’s why we’re here.”
Ashwin by himself brought India back into the game on a pitch that hasn’t yet demonstrated a sharp turn. The second session saw Ashwin take three wickets, and he added three more to complete his six-for, ending Australia’s innings at 167.2 overs.
