‘CSK ko copystrike maar dena chahiye’- Twitter reacts as Ashish Nehra claims GT to be modelled after CSK

Ashish Nehra, the former India bowler has transitioned quite easily into the coaching role after his retirement as a player. He has so far been in the coaching staff of Royal Challengers Bangalore and now heads the Gujarat Giants coaching.

The former left-arm pacer took the newly formed team to a sensational trophy win in their first season itself. Naturally, his stocks as a coach have risen and he is not regarded as one of the best up-and-coming coaches.

Nehra however has revealed that his GT success has found its roots at Chennai Super Kings. In a recent podcast, Nehra has revealed that he modelled Gujarat Giants like his former team Chennai Super Kings.

In hindsight, both teams have match-winners throughout the squad, and none of the two teams is heavily shouldered on one player. For GT Hardik Pandya, David Miller, Rashid Khan and Marcus Stoinis were those players who took the team to an IPL trophy in 2022.

Chennai have similar match winners in their squad who are capable of changing the course of the match. Players like MS Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja, Deepak Chahar, Moeen Ali, and others share responsibility for CSK.

GT’s and CSK’s IPL 2023 so far

As for this season, GT find themselves on 4th with 4 points in three matches. Their only defeat came against KKR in the last match. CSK meanwhile are 5th on the table with 4 points in 3 matches.

Their only loss came against GT in their first match at Narendra Modi Stadium. CSK are playing RR on 12th April. Meanwhile, GT go head to head with PBKS on April 13th.

Nehra’s comments about GT being modelled on CSK has certainly created a buzz on the internet as fans come up with funny replies and memes on Nehra’s comments.
