As Indian Premier League is set to witness the final clash of the season, rain is playing as party spoilers. Ahead of the toss, there is heavy rainfall and thunderstorms around Narendra Modi Stadium, which has delayed the toss and start of the game. However, it has been reported that we can get a full match until 10:10 pm, after that, we will start losing overs.

Notably, the Titans, the defending champions, would like to keep the trophy they earned last year. However, they must overcome the Super Kings, a team that has won the title four times under the leadership of MS Dhoni. When the two teams met in Qualifier 1, Dhoni’s men came out on top handily. However, the two sides will face another challenge in the final when they meet again in the top clash. Though they will first have to beat the rain but what if the rain continues?

There is nothing to worry about as the Indian Cricket Board has a reserve day for the final game of the Indian Premier League 2023. However, if the match starts by 10:10 PM, no overs will be lost and we can be treated by a full game. It’s also worth noting that the cut-off time for a 5-over game is 12:06 AM and for a super-over game is 12:50 AM. However, it is more likely that we will move to reserve day if a 5-over per-side game doesn’t complete by today.

What if reserve day also gets washed out?

It’s worth mentioning that, Gujarat and other western states of India are having pre-monsoon rainfalls. It has delayed qualifier 2 between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans and it is interrupting the finals too. However, if the match goes on to the reserve day and that also gets washed out both finalists will share the trophy.

Talking about the game, Chennai Super Kings will be keen to take revenge for their loss against GT in the season opener of IPL 2023. It’s worth noting that if CSK wins this final, they will become the second team after Mumbai Indians to clinch five IPL trophies. On the other hand, if Gujarat Titans beat CSK, they will become the third team after Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians to win consecutive IPL titles.
