Chennai Super Kings have been the joint most successful franchise in the history of the Indian premier league despite missing out on two seasons. One of the major reasons behind the success of the franchise is the clear thought process of the players. The management plays a key role in defining the roles of the players.

The captain of the franchise has played a big role in the legacy it has today. Barring the first half of the 2022 season, MS Dhoni has been the captain of the Men in Yellow for most of the tournament. Only in unavoidable circumstances, a different captain led CSK in the absence of MS Dhoni. With Dhoni nearing his retirement, the void needs to be filled.

The obvious question would be the potential replacement of the legendary captain. While Ravindra Jadeja was tried as the captain of the side in 2022, it did not work well for the team. Keeping it in mind, CSK will not be in a hurry to think of their next captain. They would let the transition happen smoothly.

Ambati Rayudu picks his future CSK Captain

Speaking about the same, the former CSK player Ambati Rayudu gave his opinions. The middle-order batter recently retired from Indian Premier League. The six-time IPL winner picked Ruturaj Gaikwad as the candidate to be the next captain of CSK. Having played some cricket with the youngster, Rayudu spoke highly of his former teammate.

Ruturaj Gaikwad has a great chance to lead CSK for a decade. MS Dhoni can groom him well. India should also capitalize on Ruturaj well, they’re not at the moment. He should be in the team for all the formats” said Rayudu in the latest interview. The former Indian player felt that Gaikwad can be the captain of CSK for a long time if groomed well by MS Dhoni. The 37-year-old also felt that the Indian team is not making the best use of the captain of Maharashtra. Rayudu felt Gaikwad should play in all three formats for India.

Here’s how the fans reacted to Rayudu’s opinion:
