‘Dada haath nahi milayenge’ – Fans react as RCB beat DC by 23 runs in a dominant home performance in IPL 2023

The action returned on Saturday with a doubleheader in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. The day’s first game saw the winless Delhi Capitals visit Royal Challengers Bangalore in their home, M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. The day’s second game will see the high-flying Lucknow Super Giants take on the Punjab Kings at Lucknow’s Ekana Sports City Stadium.

The Delhi Capitals won the toss and chose to bowl, inviting RCB to bat first in their backyard. However, Faf du Plessis’s men could not take much advantage of the decision as they kept losing regular wickets, starting with the skipper himself. He went out to Aman Khan’s heroics on the field to complete a stunning catch. Virat Kohli remained the highest-scorer of the RCB innings with a half-century in 34 balls.

Vyshak Vijay Kumar remained the star for RCB with figures of 3/20

Handy contributions from Mahipal Lomror (26 off 18), Glenn Maxwell (24 off 14) and Shahbaz Ahmed (20 off 12) throughout the batting order pushed the team total to 174/6. For the team from the national capital, Kuldeep Yadav remained the star bowler with two wickets for 23 runs in four overs. Mitchell Marsh also returned with two wickets but remained expensive with 18 runs in just two overs despite being the pick of the bowlers. Lastly, Lalit Yadav and Axar Patel returned with one scalp from the game.

In reply, the visiting team started off with the most disastrous of starts we have seen this season of the IPL. RCB bowlers wreaked havoc on Capitals’ batters as they were reduced to 2-3 inside the first three overs of their innings. The passage of regular wickets continued for DC as Manish Pandey, with 50 off 38, remained their only worthy contributor.

For RCB, the debutant Vyshak Vijay Kumar remained the best bowler with figures of 3/20 in four overs. Mohammed Siraj returned with two scalps while conceding 23 in his four overs. In the end, DC could only manage 151/9 as RCB won by 23 runs.

Next in the IPL 2023, another doubleheader awaits fans on Sunday. In the day’s first game, the struggling Mumbai Indians will take on the high-flying Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium. At the same time, the second match will feature the defending champions Gujarat Titans taking on Rajasthan Royals in a recap of last season’s final to be played out in Ahmedabad.
