‘Each player of Team India will be rewarded with Rs 1 crore’ – Odisha Chief Minister’s big statement ahead of FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023
Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik declared on Thursday that each member of the Indian hockey team will receive INR 1 crore if they win the FIH Odisha Hockey Men’s World Cup 2023. During his visit to Rourkela, Patnaik also officially opened the World Cup Village at the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium Complex. The World Cup Village has 225 rooms with all the amenities reflecting the stature of the Hockey World Cup and was constructed in a record-breaking nine months.
The teams and officials for the upcoming Hockey World Cup will reside in the World Cup Village. The National Men’s Hockey Team, which is staying at the World Cup Village, was approached by the Chief Minister on this particular occasion.
“Each player of Team India will be rewarded with Rs 1 crore if our country wins World Cup. I wish the very best to Team India and hope they will emerge champions,” Patnaik said. Players complimented the state of Odisha and congratulated the chief minister for creating a comprehensive hockey ecosystem for the country’s athletes.
The world cup village, the hockey practice facility, and the Birsa Munda Hockey Stadium will provide national and international players with a prestigious competition with an all-encompassing environment. The World Cup Village was officially opened by Odisha’s Sports Minister TK Behera, President of Hockey India Dilip Tirkey, Secretary (5T) V K Pandian, Secretary Sports R Vineel Krishna, MD IDCO Bhupendra Singh Poonia, Secretary General of Hockey India Bholanath Singh, and other representatives of the Odisha government and Hockey India.
