After leading India to victory in the third T20I against West Indies on August 8, Young star batter Tilak Varma has been receiving praise from fans and cricket experts. Notably, the left-handed batter made his international debut during the West Indies series and has produced a magnificent knock in all three T20Is. In addition, the 20-year-old batter has scored 39, 51, and 49* runs in the series.

Meanwhile, speaking on the same subject, former India cricketer MSK Prasad has praised Varma’s performances against West Indies and suggested selectors should get him in the upcoming World Cup squad. In addition, the former wicketkeeper pointed out the young batter’s record in Hyderabad.

Tilak Varma has played 25 List A games and has an average of 55 plus: MSK Prasad

The great cricketer highlighted that Varma has played around 25 games in Hyderabad and has an average strike rate of more than 55 runs, and he emphasized his centuries and fifties to get him into the upcoming mega tournament.“Look at his List A record for Hyderabad. He has played 25 List-A games and has an average of 55 plus. Five centuries and five half-centuries. It means at least 50 per cent times he is converting fifties into hundreds. A strike rate of 100 plus,” MSK Prasad told PTI.

Moreover, the former right-handed batter affirms that the Mumbai Indians batter should get fit into the squad if the great middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer does not make his way into the team owing to injuries for the upcoming ODI World Cup. In addition, the legendary cricketer feels that Varma can be a good option during the middle orders. Furthermore, the 48-year-old cricketer wishes that Tilak Varma should continue playing in white-ball formats for India.

“I think it won’t be a bad idea provided Shreyas (Iyer) can’t make it. Only then you can think of Varma. But I am sure he will be a white ball regular for India across formats going forward,” he added further.
