The Galle Titans displayed a dominating performance as they thrashed the B-Love Kandy by 84 runs during the fifth match of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2023 at R. Premadasa Stadium. The Titans skipper Dasun Shanaka won the toss and invited Kandy to field first. After opting to bat first, the Titans had a decent start as their openers, Daniel and Croospulle, struck for 25 and 11 runs, respectively.

Notably, Rajapaksa departed cheaply with just 4 runs. Following that, Tim Seifert displayed a magnificent knock, hammering 74 runs off just 39 balls, with five fours and five sixes, and had a solid stand with Shakib Al Hasan (30). Skipper Shanaka remained unbeaten as he helped his side post a total of 180 runs in the given 20 overs.

Later, while chasing, Kandy had a very miserable start as their opener Chandimal departed for a duck, while Mendis, Mathews, and skipper Hasaranga were cheaply dismissed for single-digit scores. Notably, Bandara was in a great position as the star batter hammered 27 runs from just 19 balls, with one boundary and two sixes. Wanindu Hasranga-led side collapsed for just 97 runs while handing Shanaka’s led side a massive 84-run victory.

Notably, Rajitha, Ngarava, Shamsi, and Shakib Al Hasan scalped two wickets each, whereas Samarakoon and Dananjaya picked up one wicket each. In addition, Tim Seifert was given the Player of the Match award following the great win for his side.

“The batting unit on this wicket did well. Credits Tim Seifert and Shakib Al Hasan for the way they played. The mindset on how to play Shakib Al Hasan showed his experience,” Shanaka said during the post-match presentation.
