‘Elon Musk se milwane gaye the’ – Fans react as World Cup trophy is sent to space, becomes first of its kind

The World Cup final will be held at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium, where the trophy was dropped from a “stratospheric balloon” that was propelled 120,000 feet above the surface of the planet.

Some fans criticised the governing bodies for wasting resources on a pretty insignificant thing than providing DRS during the World Cup qualifiers or improved amenities in stadiums, while some appreciated the theatrics. The delay regarding the schedule for the World Cup’s publication was also bemoaned by many fans. Others merely participated in the fun by using memes.

The occasion was a part of the International Cricket Body’s declaration of the customary trophy tour leading forward to the upcoming World Cup in October-November. This year’s trophy will leave India on June 27 and visit 18 nations before returning on September 4. The trophy will visit 18 nations over the coming months, notably Kuwait, Bahrain, Malaysia, the United States, Nigeria, Uganda, France, Italy, and the host nation India.

It should be mentioned that the coronavirus pandemic forced certain limits in prior years, making this the very first full-blown Trophy Tour since 2019. 4k cameras mounted on a stratospheric balloon recorded videos of the award hanging on the outermost edge of the Earth’s atmosphere as it travelled through the stratosphere.
