English star footballer Mary Earps has had a dream year in 2023. Notably, the English great player ended the year as the best goalkeeper of the year and bagged several awards. However recalling the year, the 30-year-old wrote a message on Instagram. “2023, you’ve been magic. I could never have imagined half of the things that have come my way this year in my wildest dreams. There will never be another year like it.”

In addition, the great goalkeeper won several other awards in the year like Women’s Footballer of the year award, England’s Women’s Player of the year, and Sportswoman of the Year. However, Mary Earps felt that nothing was possible without the support of her teammates. “But I need to say, none of it is possible without my teammates, I owe them so much and hopefully I can repay them in the years to come,” she added in her post.

The Nottingham born-cricketer won the popular BBC Sports Personality of the Year for her sensational year with England and Manchester United. However, she added that not everything was good for her in the year. “I have to be honest, it’s not been all sunshine and rainbows, though it might seem that way from the highlight reels of social media. Social media isn’t real life. But you can’t have flowers without a little rain and I know I’m so blessed,” wrote Earps.

This year I’ve learnt more about myself than probably any other year – Mary Earps

The Manchester United goalkeeper finished the Ballon d’Or rankings with a fifth spot, which is great for a goalkeeper. In addition, the star player had the best record in WSL 2022/23 where she conceded only 12 goals in 22 appearances. Earps felt lucky to be around a great set of people. “I’m so incredibly lucky to be surrounded by such wonderful people who inspire me and guide me every day,” added Mary.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils finished the WSL 2022/23 with a second spot. However, the 30-year-old hoped to have a better 2024 and wished her followers a healthy and happy new year. “This year I’ve learnt more about myself than probably any other year, it’s been filled with joy, tears and everything in between – but most of all gratitude and learning. 2024, I’m ready for you Wishing you all a happy and healthy 2024!” concluded Earps.
