Erik Ten Hag analyzes recurrence in mistakes of Manchester United

Erik Ten Hag has had a difficult time as the manager of Manchester United in 2023. However, it is a difficult task for anyone who manages the club as the past has witnessed if you are not Moyes. Notably, Manchester United have lost 14 games in 2023, the most for the club in a season since 1972. For more than 51 years. United still gave better performances.

However, they have tried everything they could, there have been multiple openings on a single pipe. It has frustrated the players and the manager himself. Notably, they are trying to rectify it but have not been able to do so. In the most recent game, United lost to Nottingham Forest by 1-2. It probably summed up the entire season of the side till now.

Meanwhile, there were lapses in many aspects of the game. What has not gone well with Ten Hag though, is the fact that the mistakes have been recurring. However, he had to say that changing the players was the reason behind it.

“Every time you have to swap (players), the routines are not there and top football is going quickly, so you need the communication in the split moment,” Erik Ten Hag said.

Moreover, he said that communication in split moments is crucial, which had not happened enough for them. With 18 games yet to go in the ongoing season, United might find themselves in a tough situation. Erik Ten Hag added that the side went for the win but could not counterattack. He added that the defence was not good from the United.

Erik Ten Hag felt that the second half was good which should have been replicated by the side in the first half. “We went for the win and there was one counterattack where we probably did not defend too well as a team, but what I saw in the second half was a team going for a win and that was what we missed in the first half. I saw some decent football in the second half,” he added further.
