‘Example of what CSK can become once Dhoni leaves’ – Fans react to Joburg Super Kings’ loss to Durban Super Giants by 37 runs

Faf Du Plessis led the Joburg Super Kings to lose yet another match after their huge 98-run loss to MICT. This time the Super Kings outfit lost to Durban Super Giants on Monday. It was a disappointing performance with the bat as only two JSK batters reached double figures.

Keshav Maharaj won the toss and chose to bat first. It was the brilliance of Heinrich Klaasen again that helped the Durban Super Giants to a score of 145 on the board. Lizaad Williams proved his worth yet again with yet another four-wicket haul.

The win on Monday has solidified Durban’s place at the top of the table with 12 points from three games. Joburg Super Kings are second off the bottom with two points from the three games played so far.

Durban Super Giants steamroll JSK’s challenge

After their huge win over the weekend, Durban Super Giants were in early trouble on Monday. Moeen Ali got the wicket of De Kock for 2, as Nandre Burger got Breetzke out for 13. JJ Smuts who had top-scored last game was out for 6 when he fell LBW to Lizaad Williams.

Heinrich Klaasen led the charge with the bat yet again as he scored 64 runs off 41 balls. His knock included 7 fours and two sixes before falling to Williams caught by David Wiese. Nicolas Pooran failed to impress with the bat and fell for just 15 runs. Lizaad Williams was the chief wicket-taker with 4/26 from his four overs. Joburg Super Kings came to the ground needing 146 to win. Reeza Hendricks and Faf Du Plessis began well by adding 33 runs for the first wicket. It was Hendricks who played the aggressor as he went after the bowlers.

Keshav Maharaj put an end to Du Plessis’s struggle bowling out for 7 runs off 17 balls. Durban’s skipper struck again when he bowled Ronan Hermann for six. The wickets kept on falling as Reeza Hendricks was out for 38 when Richard Gleeson got his prized wicket. Moeen Ali tried to fight a lone battle when he smashed 36 runs off 26 balls with four and 3 sixes. That charge was halted when Reece Topley had his fellow Englishman put the final nail in JSK’s coffin.
