‘Experimenting team mat Bana Lena’ – Fans react as Rohit Sharma to attend meeting in Delhi to pick India’s Asia Cup 2023 squad

According to recent reports, Team India skipper Rohit Sharma is all set to attend the meeting in New Delhi on Monday, August 21, with new chief selector Ajit Agarkar to pick the Asia Cup squad that is slated to take place in Pakistan and Sri Lanka. Notably, the Men in Blue will be playing all of their matches in Sri Lanka, as they refused to play in Pakistan due to geopolitical tensions between the two countries.

Earlier, Pakistan, Nepal, and Bangladesh had already announced their squads for the coming Asia Cup, which is set to be conducted in a 50-over format as it will boost ODI World Cup preparations. Notably, there are great chances for the return of India’s star batters, KL Rahul and Shreyas Iyer, to boost the batting order, especially in the middle. In addition, India’s star pacers Jasprit Bumrah and Prasidh Krishna already made a remarkable comeback in the squad, as was clearly displayed during the first T20I against Ireland on August 18 in Dublin.

Rohit Sharma’s side will be taking on Pakistan on September 2

Meanwhile, some players like Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, and Hardik Pandya, along with skipper Rohit Sharma, will definitely get a place in the squad. In contrast, a few players such as Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, and Yuzvendra Chahal are in doubt of getting a place in the squad owing to their poor performances in past ODIs.

Currently, there will be four games that will be staged in Pakistan, whereas the other nine games will be hosted in Sri Lanka. Notably, the Men in Green are kicking off their tournament against Nepal. In contrast, Rohit Sharma’s side will take on Pakistan on September 2 in Kandy, Sri Lanka, to commence their Asia Cup journey. Following the same, Team India will lock horns against Nepal on September 4 at the exact location. Moreover, the super four round will be played on September 6, while the final will be on September 13 in R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
