Five Highest Individual Scorers In IPL History
Over the course of 15 years of IPL, there have been some impressive batting performances from the teams. Those performances came on the back of some individual performances. 1. Chris Gayle
The former West Indies has the all-time highest individual score in the history of the league, i.e 175 not out. This inning came against now-defunct Pune Warriors India while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Not to forget, Gayle registered the fastest T20 hundred in 30 balls and hit 13 fours and 17 sixes on his way to 175.
This inning helped the RCB reach 263/5, the tournament’s highest team total of all time. In reply, PWI could only amass 133/9, losing the game by 130 runs in the 2013 season.
2. Brendon McCullum
In the inaugural match of the Indian Premier League 2008, the former New Zealand skipper mercilessly bashed RCB bowlers. After being asked to bat, KKR amassed 222/3 at the end of the innings. Most of the runs were scored by McCullum, i.e 158 including 10 fours and 13 sixes.
In reply, the home team, Royal Challengers got all out on 82, scoring more than half of the runs combined compared to the runs scored by McCullum.
3. The Lucknow Super Giants and South Africa opening batter scored his second IPL hundred last year against KKR. Batting first, LSG openers, De Kock and skipper KL Rahul batted throughout the innings. They put together 210/0 at the end of the innings.
Out of this, 140 were scored by De Kock including 10 fours and as many sixes. In reply, the two-time winners lost the game by two runs.
4. AB de Villiers
The former Proteas skipper scored his first hundred for RCB in 2015. In the game against Mumbai Indians, the Red Army lost the wicket of Chris Gayle early. However, De Villiers and Virat Kohli remained unbeaten and took the team to 235/1 in the end.
The former scored 133 not out including 19 fours and four sixes. In reply, the eventual champions, MI could only reach 196/7, losing the game by 39 runs.
5. KL Rahul
The former Punjab Kings skipper scored his second IPL hundred in the game against his another former side, RCB in 2020. Batting first, the Mohali-based side was going fine for a major part of the innings. However, in one of the overs from Dale Steyn, Rahul took the former South Africa player to the cleaners.
The right-hander scored 132 off 69 balls including 14 fours and seven sixes and helped the team reach 206/3. In reply, the three-time finalists lost the game by 97 runs.
