‘For someone like him, secretary Jay Shah…’ – Sourav Ganguly opines about officials talking to Ishan Kishan regarding his whereabouts

The former India player Sourav Ganguly has voiced his opinion on the situation which has been created by Ishan Kishan regarding the central contract. As per Ganguly, the Indian Cricket Board officials should have a conversation with Ishan regarding his life. Although he is surprised by Ishan and Iyer’s missing Ranji matches approach, he still feels that since the players have done so much for the team, they should get a chance to give explanations.

Ganguly said, “For someone like Ishan Kishan, BCCI secretary Jay Shah, president Roger Binny and the selectors need to speak to him. All this while he has played Ranji and then played white-ball cricket. Has it made him a poorer player? It hasn’t. All the players picked in Delhi Capitals have played Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, Vijay Hazare Trophy and Ranji Trophy. Even Ishant Sharma has played Ranji.”

Moreover, it was wrong for Ishan and Iyer’s part to not communicate with the Board officials. After the World Cup, Ishan hasn’t played any series while Iyer was a part of the England series but was dropped. Ever since that, he hasn’t played any Ranji matches and also blamed his injury for missing out on Ranji matches. These were the few reasons why they were excluded from the central contract list.
