Former India cricketer booked for cheating case in Kerala
The Kerala police in Kannur district have filed a cheating case against former India cricketer S Sreesanth and two others. The complaint, lodged by Sareesh Gopalan from Choonda, accuses Rajiv Kumar and Venkatesh Kini of defrauding him of ₹18.70 lakh on multiple occasions starting from April 25, 2019. The accused allegedly claimed to be setting up a sports academy in Kollur, Karnataka, with Sreesanth as a partner.
In his complaint, Gopalan claimed that he invested the money with the expectation of becoming a partner in the planned sports academy. The accused, including Sreesanth, are now facing charges under Indian Penal Code (IPC) Section 420. The code deals with cheating and dishonestly inducing the delivery of property. This legal development positions Sreesanth as the third accused in the case. It also indicates a deceptive property deal with legal ramifications for the cricketer and his associates.
The case evolves against the backdrop of financial transactions and commitments linked to the creation of a sports academy. It also introduced a layer of intricacy to the legal proceedings. As the investigation progresses, the accused will be required to respond to the charges filed against them, and the legal process will ultimately determine the resolution of this case.

In a crucial moment of the Legends League Cricket match, Bhilwara Kings required 13 runs from the last over, with Simmons and Jessel Kariya on the crease. Sreesanth, the bowler for Gujarat Giants, faced the challenge. Despite Kariya hitting a six on the first ball, Sreesanth managed to restrict the opposition, allowing only singles and keeping the pressure. The final ball required 5 runs for victory or 4 runs to tie, but Sreesanth delivered brilliantly, conceding only a single and securing a 3-run win for Gujarat Giants. Simmons was named the Player of the Match despite the Bhilwara Kings falling short.
