Former WWE superstar and hall of famer Tammy Sytch faces 25 years of prision in DUI death case

WWE Hall of Famer Tammy Sytch, renowned as Sunny, currently faces the grim prospect of spending 25 years behind bars. It comes after she pleaded no contest to a charge of DUI causing death. The 50-year-old wrestling icon was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2011. She found herself at the centre of a tragic incident in 2022.

According to media reports emerged in March 2022, Sytch was involved in a fatal car collision, resulting in the demise of a 75-year-old drunken man. She was charged along with seven others. However, she initially pleaded not guilty to the eight charges, including DUI causing death. Meanwhile, in an unexpected twist on August 16, 2023, Sytch altered her pleas in a Volusia County courtroom.

She entered a no-contest plea for the felony DUI-causing death charge. Moreover, she repeated the same plea for a felony charge of driving with a suspended licence causing death, two misdemeanours of DUI with property damage, and four counts of DUI with injury to a person. Awaiting her sentencing hearing, the gravity of Sytch’s situation looms large. The potential maximum sentence of 25 years in prison casts a shadow over her storied career in the wrestling world.

Sytch’s troubles escalated swiftly following the fatal accident. Officials involved in the case revealed that Sytch had allegedly crashed her vehicle into the back of another car stopped at a traffic light. Her blood alcohol content was noted to be.08 or higher during the incident.

Although initially granted bond, the prosecution deemed her a community risk. This decision led to her incarceration in May 2022. Notably, this was not Sytch’s first brush with the law. Prior instances included at least six arrests for obstructed use of a vehicle. In July 2020, her legal woes continued as she faced charges of evading a police officer, violating a domestic violence restraining order, and driving during a second licence suspension. Following an 11-month stint in prison, Sytch was released and expressed her eagerness to embark on a new chapter of her life.
