India’s top sports stars, including legendary cricketers such as Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, former Indian captain Virat Kohli, and two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu, have lost the ‘blue tick’ on the micro-blogging site Twitter that used to verify their identity. Blue ticks were provided free of cost to journalists, government officials, and celebrities in their field to avoid impersonation and ‘spam’ on social media platforms.

Amidst the excitement of Indian Premier League 2023, there was a stir on social media on Thursday evening when blue ticks started being removed from the Twitter of the veterans one by one that does not pay a monthly subscription for the service. Indian team captain Rohit Sharma also lost his blue tick. As soon as the fans got to know that these stars have lost their blue tick on Twitter, they reacted to it and also shared some funny memes.

Thriller between DC and KKR in IPL

The incident happened when people were watching the 27th match of Delhi Capitals (DC) vs Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in IPL on Thursday, April 20. Talking about the match, DC won the toss and opted to bowl first and their decision proved right as they thrashed KKR’s middle order and restricted the visitors on the score of just 127 runs. No other batters could provide anything to the scoreboard except Jason Roy who was also playing his first match of the season for KKR.

Roy scored 43 runs off 39 balls which included 5 fours and 1 six. In the end, Andre Russel smashed 3 sixes in the final over and helped the team achieve a respectable total. Chasin the target, DC skipper David Warner gave a brilliant start to the team in the powerplay but they kept losing wickets from the other end which created pressure on Warner and he also ended up losing his wicket after hitting a half-century.

KKR skipper Nitish Rana brilliantly used spinners and he even himself bowled his 4 overs and took 2 wickets as well. But in the last over, Kulwant Khejroliya couldn’t defend 7 runs and DC somehow managed to chase the target.
