‘Gambhir is humble unlike Chokli’- Fans praise Gautam Gambhir for inviting India & UP wheelchair cricketers to a special practice session

Lucknow Super Giants have had a decent start to the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League, with the recently-established franchise placed third in the 10-team table, having amassed 11 points from 11 games played on the back of five wins, five losses, and a no-result encounter with the Chennai Super Kings. However, one of the best moments of their season came from a practice session during the season, where the team invited India and UP wheelchair cricketers to join in with their practice session.

In photos and videos posted on the Lucknow Super Giants’ official social media accounts, many members of the playing squad and even the coaching staff can be seen playing with members of the Indian and UP wheelchair cricket team in a practice session held at the home ground of the Super Giants, the Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow.

During the session, members of the Lucknow Super Giants coaching staff, especially fielding coach Jonty Rhodes and mentor Gautam Gambhir, can be seen getting involved wholeheartedly in the proceedings. Rhodes can be seen bowling underarm to the members of the wheelchair team, who showed off their big-hitting skills with the bat. Afterwards, Rhodes and Gambhir had a conversation with the members of the wheelchair cricket team and posed for photos.

The Lucknow franchise is currently dealing with the aftermatch of losing skipper KL Rahul due to an injury suffered while fielding in an IPL match. Rahul, who was forced to withdraw from the entire tournament as a result, will be undergoing surgery and will also miss the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia in June. The captaincy of the Lucknow franchise have been taken over by Krunal Pandya, while Quentin de Kock provides an extremely capable and experienced replacement for Rahul at the top of the order as the Super Giants aim to qualify for the playoffs of the 2023 edition of the Indian Premier League.

Here’s how fans reacted to Gautam Gambhir’s gesture:
