Former India cricketer turned analyst Gautam Gambhir is reportedly likely to part ways with IPL franchise Lucknow Super Giants ahead of IPL 2024. Notably, the former India opener joined the team back in 2022 as the head coach, where his side got knocked out during the eliminator of IPL 2022 as well as 2023. Royal Challenger’s Bangalore knocked them out in 2022, while Rohit Sharma’s Mumbai Indians knocked them out in 2023 in the playoffs.

According to sources, the well-renowed cricket commentator is likely to join another franchise, the Kolkata Knight Riders, next season. Notably, the star cricketer has had a great stint with KKR as the skipper. Gautam Gambhir guided KKR towards victory in 2012 and 2014. Following that, the franchise is still struggling to get its first win. Meanwhile, the Kolkata Knight Riders made their way into the final of IPL 2021 but lost the final game against CSK.

However, some sources claim that the cricketer turned politician will not be appearing in the IPL 2024 owing to the Lok Sabha elections to be held in 2024. The 41-year-old cricketer is the big face of the BJP from Delhi, and he won’t have much time for the next IPL in 2024.

“Gautam Gambhir is likely to just take a break for the next IPL to political commitments. He is not moving to a different team or leaving franchises. There will be a lot of political work involved in the build-up to the Lok Sabha elections, so he wants to focus all his energies towards that. Gautam is a big face for BJP in Delhi and elsewhere also his popularity is right up there. So he will be actively involved in election work next year and will not have enough time for the IPL,” the sources said.

Notably, just a day ago, the top-order batter met with the owner of KKR Shah Rukh Khan and posted a picture with him on social media platforms with a heartfelt note for Bollywood superstar. “He’s not just the king of Bollywood but the king of hearts. Every time we meet I go back with endless love and respect. So much to learn from u . Simply the best  SRK @iamsrk,” Gautam Gambhir wrote on X.
