Gamers can now run GTA V on mobile devices, here’s how

Published on

This year, gamers are expecting to see new tech advancements in the gaming industry. However, no one expected it would be gamers running Grand Theft Auto (GTA) V on their mobile devices.

While there is no native port for GTA V unlike other older GTA titles, a gamer has now posted a video showcasing that mobile devices with Snapdragon 870 and above can run GTA V at 30 fps without any issues on the Mobox emulator.

Is emulation that easy?

Regular emulation nowadays is quite simple, with many being able to run older PS and Xbox titles. In this particular case, however, Mobox requires a rooted device as the user will need to install Wine esync which allows the PC game to run on mobile devices.

There is also a trade-off. PC games have very high requirements, and GTA V in particular is not optimized for mobile devices. Furthermore, while one can root their device, it will void all warranty if any remains. No official support from the company will also be provided in case of an issue.

Performance update

The users have also reported that an upcoming update for the emulator will allow devices with Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 to run the game at smooth 50 fps. This comes as great news for mobile gamers, as it shows how gamers are likely to enjoy higher quality games on the go easily.

Sure, GTA V is not the latest game, however, it is still being updated. Notable changes have been made from the time it was launched back in 2013 for console devices.

Apple with their latest iPhone 15 pro and pro-max release have showcased PC games like Resident Evil on mobile devices. Other games like Death Stranding and Resident Evil Village will also be released soon.
