‘Garam karke Thanda hi chodh diya’ – Fans react as India lose 3rd BGT Test against Australia after winning first two

India locked horns against Australia in the third Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the Holkar Cricket, Indore. The hosts, currently, lead the four-match Test series 2-0. Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma won the toss and elected to bowl first. India made two changes on their side. They brought in Shubman Gill and Umesh Yadav in place of KL Rahul and Mohammad Shami, respectively.

On the other hand, the visitors are without the likes of their regular skipper Pat Cummins, who has missed the third Test due to family problems. Steve Smith is leading the team in his absence. Left-arm seamer Mitchell Starc has replaced his captain and Cameron Green has come in place of David Warner.

India, batting first, did not have a good outing with the bat. The team got bundled out for only 109 runs and was able to play only 33 overs. The highest scorer for team India was Virat Kohli. The former Indian skipper scored 22 runs whereas Shubman Gill scored 21 runs. Bharat scored 17 runs and the Mumbai franchise skipper, after getting two chances, was able to score only 17 runs. Axar Patel remained not out in the innings with a score of 17 runs.

Australia defeat India by 9 wickets

For Australia, the pick of the bowlers were Matthew Kuhnemann, who was playing just the second Test of his career. He bagged a fifer and just conceded 16 runs in his spell of nine overs. Three wickets were grabbed by veteran off-spinner Nathan Lyon and one wicket was snapped by Todd Murphy.

In reply, Australia were able to score only 197 runs and they lost the last six wickets for a mere addition of 12 runs. The top scorer for the Australian side was their opener Usman Khawaja, who scored 60 runs off 147 balls with four boundaries. For the hosts, the pick of the bowlers was Ravindra Jadeja with four wickets, Ravichandran Ashwin, who bagged three wickets and Umesh grabbed three wickets.

Batting for the second time, India again started to struggle against the Australian bowlers and were able to score only 163 runs and gave a target of 76 runs to the opponent. Cheteshwar Pujara scored 59 runs off 142 balls, with five boundaries and a six. For the visitors, the pick of the bowlers was their veteran off-spinner Nathan Lyon who took eight wickets in his spell of 23.3 overs in which he conceded only 64 runs. One-One wicket each was snapped by Mitchell Starc and Matthew Kuhnemann.

Australia chase down the target in the 19th over with nine wickets in hand. Travis Head played an unbeaten knock of 49 runs from 53 balls with six fours and a six and Marnus Labuschange played an unbeaten knock of 28 runs off 58 balls which included six boundaries.
