‘Gill hai toh mumkin hai’ – Shubman Gill scores his second Test hundred in Ahmedabad against Australia

India have put themselves in a commendable position on day three of the fourth Test against Australia at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad. The main anchor of Indian batting on the third day was the young opening batter Shubman Gill as he scored his second Test hundred.

Gill was given the opportunity in place of inform KL Rahul in the Indore Test, but he couldn’t deliver their. But now, the 23-year-old seem to grab the opportunity with both hands as he completed his century on the 194th ball of his inning. He got out after scoring 128 runs off 235 balls as he was bowled leg before by Nathan Lyon in the 79th over.

Gill has shown a tremendous form over the past few months as he scored his maiden Test Hundred in Bangladesh. He then went on to score a double ton in an ODI against New Zealand, and then also added his name in the list of Indian cricketers with centuries in all three formats by hitting a T20I hundred against the Kiwis in Ahmedabad.

Australia scored 480 runs  in the first inning

Australia were bowled out for 480 runs, as Usman Khawaja played stupendous innings of 180 runs off 422 balls, hitting 22 fours. Khawaja added 208 runs with Cameron Green for the fifth wicket. Green also registered his first Test hundred as he got out after scoring 114 off 170 with 18 boundaries.

For India Ravichandran Ashwin registered his 32nd five-wicket haul in Test for India as he scalped 6 wickets conceding 47 runs. He surpassed Anil Kumble to take the most five-wickets haul for India at home in the white ball cricket. The 36-year-old has registered 26 five-wickets hauls in India, while Kumble stands at 25.

Starting day two with 36 for no loss, Gill and the skipper Rohit Sharma went on to provide a good start for the hosts as they added 74 runs for the first wicket. Rohit tried to take on Matthew Kuhnemann in the last ball of the 21st over, but ended up giving the catch to Marnus Labuschagne. He got out after scoring 35 off 58.. After that, Cheteshwar Pujara put up a partnership of 114 runs with Gill for the second wicket. Pujara also got out after getting a good start as he bowled leg before by Todd Murphy after scoring 42 off 121.
