‘Goat Bumrah’ -Fans react to Jasprit Bumrah returning to Team India ahead of T20I series against Ireland

Indian star pacer Jasprit Bumrah is all set to make his comeback in the upcoming three-match T20I series against Ireland. In addition, the great seamer has been named captain and Ruturaj Gaikwad as his deputy for the series. The Indian Cricket Board revealed the squad for the tour on Monday. The team lavishes youngsters and IPL stars, with the most-awaited comeback of Bumrah ahead of mega tournaments.

IPL talents Shivam Dube and Jitesh Sharma are all set to make their comebacks in the squad, whereas KKR batter Rinku Singh also secured a spot in the team. This will be promising signs for India as both the Asia Cup and World Cup are around the corner later in the year. In addition, pacer Prasidh Krishna has also recovered successfully following a prolonged injury break and has been named for the upcoming tour.

Hardik Pandya, who has been India’s regular captain in T20Is recently, is rested for the tour, along with other senior players such as Ravindra Jadeja, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, and Yuzvendra Chahal. India’s star duo Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli also have not been included in T20Is since the 2022 T20 World Cup. It seems that the recently-appointed chief selector, Ajit Agarkar, has made the right choice by seeking to create an effective T20 cricket squad ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024.

Team India had previously won the T20I series against them

Team India will be locking horns against Ireland for the three-match T20I series on August 18 after the ongoing campaign against the West Indies. Notably, Team India had previously won the T20I series against them in 2018 and 2022. In addition, the Ireland squad has recently qualified for the T20I World Cup 2024 and will be looking for their first win against the Men in Blue.

The Indian squad:

Jasprit Bumrah (c), Ruturaj Gaikwad (vc), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Tilak Varma, Rinku Singh, Sanju Samson (wk.), Jitesh Sharma (wk.), Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar, Shahbaz Ahmed, Ravi Bishnoi, Prasidh Krishna, Arshdeep Singh, Mukesh Kumar, Avesh Khan.
