‘GOAT recognises GOAT’ – Fans react as Wasim Jaffer shares appreciation Tweet for Steve Smith following brilliant century in second Ashes Test at Lords

Former Indian Cricketer Wasim Jaffer took to social media to heap praise on the star Australian batter Steve Smith for his sensational ton in the ongoing Test of Ashes 2023 at the Lords Cricket ground. The 34-year-old smashed his 32nd Test ton as Australia finished their first inning on 416 runs against England.

Reacting to Smith’s magnificent hundred, Wasim Jaffer shared an appreciation Tweet for the Australian batter where he wrote, “If you make a green pitch, the Goat’s bound to graze on it! #Ashes2023.” Smith’s innings helped Australia to cross a 400-run mark in the first innings of the Test match.

Talking about the match, David Warner and Usman Khawaja put up a 73-run opening partnership in 23.1 overs in Day 1. Warner seemed to find his form back in red-ball cricket as he got out after a well-made 66 runs off 88 balls hitting eight fours and a six. After that, Smith and Marnus Labuschagne took the innings further and added 102 runs for the third wicket. Labuschagne got out after scoring 47 runs off 93 balls with seven boundaries.

After Labuschagne’s dismissal, Smith put up another century partnership with Travis Head as they both added 118 runs for the fourth wicket. Head got out after scoring 77 runs off just 73 balls with 14 fours, While Smith finally lost his wicket after scoring 110 runs off 184 balls hitting 15 boundaries.

Australia were bowled out before lunch on Day 2. For England, Ollie Robinson and Joshua Tongue shared 3-3 wickets. Joe Root put 2 in his bag, while James Andreson and Stuart Broad shared a wicket each. The hosts have scored 13 runs without any loss by the end of the first session on Day 2 with both openers at the crease.

Fans invade pitch on Day 1 of second Ashes Test

A hilarious incident took place during Day 1 of the Test match as two fans invaded the ground and interrupted the match. After the fans invaded the pitch, England skipper Ben Stokes grabbed one of them, who was approaching the Australian batter, David Warner. On the other hand, Jonny Bairstow carried the other fan and took him out of the field. The hilarious moment left all the fans and spectators present on the ground in splits.
