Granit Xhaka takes three-word swipe at Arsenal’s Oleksandr Zinchenko
Granit Xhaka engaged in friendly banter by humorously teasing Arsenal defender Oleksandr Zinchenko on social media. Zinchenko, who featured for the Gunners in Wednesday night’s 6-0 victory over RC Lens in the UEFA Champions League, helped secure the top spot in their group. Xhaka’s playful comment added a light-hearted touch to the team’s success.
Mikel Arteta’s team delivered a remarkably impressive performance, with six different players scoring goals. Following the conclusion of the match, left-back Zinchenko posted a photo from the game on Instagram to share the moment with his followers.
His caption read: “Let’s go for more (Fire emoji) @Arsenal.” Following this, Xhaka, the star from Bayern Leverkusen, playfully teased his former teammate in the comments section.
The Swiss captain said: “Did you play? (Laughing emoji).” It was a funny response from the experienced midfielder, who opted to leave the north London club over the summer, ending a seven-year stay at the Emirates Stadium.
In the previous season, the 30-year-old experienced his most successful campaign, scoring seven goals and contributing seven assists in the Premier League. Despite his impressive performance, Arsenal fell just short of the title, finishing five points behind Manchester City. However, his successor, Kai Havertz, has faced challenges in adapting since his £65 million transfer from Chelsea to Arsenal.
Dortmund emerged victorious against Milan, while PSG managed to salvage a draw
Borussia Dortmund secured a spot in the UEFA Champions League knockout stage with a 3-1 victory against AC Milan, thanks to goals from Marco Reus, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens, and substitute Karim Adeyemi. Paris Saint-Germain earned a dramatic 1-1 draw against Newcastle United, with Kylian Mbappe scoring a 98th-minute penalty.
Barcelona came from behind to beat Porto 2-1, securing their first entry into the knockout rounds in three seasons. Atletico Madrid defeated Feyenoord 3-1, sealing their last-16 spot with two own goals. In Italy, Dortmund’s early lead came from Reus after Olivier Giroud’s penalty miss, and despite Samuel Chukwueze’s equalizer, Bynoe-Gittens and Adeyemi secured Dortmund’s place in the last 16.
