West Indies vs India 2023

‘Hardik Pandya does not get as much support from Rahul Dravid as he does from Ashish Nehra’ – Former India opener makes huge claim

After losing the first and second T20Is under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya, the Men in Blue will be locking horns for the third T20I against West Indies on August 8. Notably, the Gujarat Titans skipper has been the center of criticism after losing back-to-back T20Is against the frail team. In addition, a plethora of fans and cricket experts are keeping their perspective on the same.

Speaking on the same subject, former India cricketer turned analyst Parthiv Patel feels that India skipper Hardik Pandya does not get as much support from head coach Rahul Dravid as he does from Gujarat Titans coach Ashish Nehra. Notably, the great all-rounder and head coach Nehra guided the Gujarat Titans towards victory in their first edition, while they ended up as runners-up in the recently concluded IPL 2023 after losing the final match against the Chennai Super Kings.

Hardik Pandya has that spark but he needs that support: Parthiv Patel

In addition, the former wicketkeeper highlighted some mistakes by Hardik Pandya. Moreover, the left-handed batter feels that India head coach Rahul Dravid is not a proactive person. Furthermore, the 38-year-old analyst went on to say that Pandya has the spark, but he needs support to show his skillsets.

“There have been a couple of instances about Hardik Pandya’s captaincy which have been glaring mistakes. The first was giving that over to Axar Patel in the first game when Nicholas Pooran had come out to bat.  Hardik Pandya the captain has been brilliant with GT but at Gujarat Titans he had the support of Ashish Nehra. But is Rahul Dravid the proactive coach or person which we are looking for in the T20 format. I don’t think so. In my mind, we need someone who is proactive. Hardik Pandya has that spark but he needs that support, which to me Rahul Dravid doesn’t provide,” Parthiv said on Cricbuzz after the second T20I.
