Hardik Pandya has been retained by the Gujarat Titans team ahead of the IPL 2024 season. The news was confirmed on Sunday on the day the names of the players who were to be released and retained was to be announced.

On Saturday it was announced that Hardik Pandya is close to joining Mumbai Indians for INR 15 Crores. There was widespread shock across the cricketing spectrum at the huge amount Mumbai was ready to pay to re-acquire their former player.

The biggest news coming ahead of the IPL 2024 auction is that Hardik Pandya is staying with Gujarat Titans. The retention of the 30-year-old ends speculations that Hardik Pandya is moving to Mumbai Indians

There were reports of Hardik Pandya being traded to Mumbai Indians for a huge sum of INR 15 Crores. Once the news came out the fans took to Twitter and there were mixed reactions. Gujarat fans heaved a sigh of relief while that the Indian star will be seen in action in the Titans colors next season.

Mumbai Indians fans also came up with mixed reactions as most of them were happy that the move had collapsed. The reasons behind the move not taking place haven’t been revealed as yet.

The 2022 IPL champions meanwhile have released Yash Dayal as expected. The left-arm pacer was hit for five sixes by Rinku Singh during the KKR versus GT game in what was the game of the IPL 2023 tournament.

Dasun Shanaka, Alzarri Joseph, and Odean Smith were released by Gujarat Titans. Indian test wicket-keeper KS Bharat was also released as they look to strengthen their side ahead of the next season.

The biggest news was the release of Jofra Archer by Mumbai Indians to free up the funds for the IPL 2024 auctions. Chris Jordan, Riley Meredith, and Jhye Richardson were also released by the five time IPL winners.

Some of the other big releases included, Ben Stokes by Chennai Super Kings and Joe Root by Rajasthan Royals. Both players had already pulled out of the IPL 2024 tournament to focus on their international commitments.
